Scienscope is the science outreach centre of the University of Geneva. Our mission: making science accessible to all students in the canton, from kindergarten to secondary school, through free hands-on workshops led by active researchers.
Since its creation, Scienscope has pursued an ambitious goal: sparking scientific curiosity in young Genevans by offering them direct contact with university research. Every workshop is designed and led by researchers and doctoral students at the University of Geneva, ensuring scientifically rigorous content adapted to each age group.
The programme is aimed at school classes ages 4 to 19 and covers the entire educational journey, from primary school to upper secondary. Teachers can book workshops for their classes free of charge, giving their students a practical, immersive experience at the heart of science.
Scienscope is part of the University of Geneva's social responsibility strategy, which regards the dissemination of scientific knowledge as a fundamental mission. By bringing the academic world closer to schools, we help train tomorrow's citizens and inspire scientific vocations.

Scienscope workshops are based on active, experimental pedagogy. Rather than limiting themselves to theoretical presentations, students handle, experiment and discover scientific principles for themselves. This hands-on approach fosters deep learning and stimulates children's natural curiosity.
Each workshop is adapted to the participants' school level. The content is developed in close collaboration with the Department of Public Instruction of the Canton of Geneva, ensuring consistency with the objectives of the Francophone Study Plan (PER). Teachers receive complementary teaching materials to extend the experience in the classroom.
The science mediators — doctoral students, post-docs and active researchers — bring their field expertise and share their passion for research. This direct encounter between the academic world and schools is at the heart of Scienscope's identity.
